LED high bay light may be more energy efficient but bring new problems to the environment

LED high bay light have gradually replaced incandescent bulbs because they typically consume less energy and the bulbs themselves can last a considerable amount of time. More efficient lighting means good things to the environment. Now that many modern cities are changing from outdated lighting technologies, the scientists point out that we may have made a big mistake.

In a new study published in the journal science advances, researchers set out to determine the extent of the global deterioration in light pollution. Their findings reveal bad news and even worse news. The bad news is that more and more parts of the world are being illuminated by artificial lights, and the worse news is that LED high bay light is likely to be the culprit.

Using observations from powerful weather satellites, the researchers could determine that the whole earth was brighter than a few years ago, with the rapid growth of "the disappearance of night" in Europe and the United States. But why does this happen?

According to the scientists, several factors are at play, including LED high bay light that are increasingly common, providing more illumination for cities and keeping the current energy budget. Many areas simply add more outdoor LED high bay light, rather than simply lowering the cost of LED high bay light.

Most importantly, as the size of the city expands and the first outdoor LED high bay light infrastructure is installed in previously underdeveloped areas, light pollution increases.

Experts stress that covered  LED high bay light illuminated only by reservation area can solve the problem, or at least significantly reduce the severity of the problem, but to meet this requirement needs the joint efforts of all countries.
