TEK to teach you to solve the indoor stadium lighting adjustment problem

By changing the color of the lighting of the facility, the movement can create an atmosphere that is richer and more attractive. This practice is known as color temperature regulation.Indoor sports sites often use more subtle applications that illuminate the site with white light and can best display the game. Changing the color of white light in space is called the white balance.

White light exists in many different shades, and the unit of measurement is K. The lower the K value, the warmer and yellowing the white light. For example, LED high bay light emit light of 2800K color temperature. The higher color temperature indicates that the white light has a cool, bluish hue. It is generally believed that 5600K is the midday sun color temperature.

White light is an important consideration for multi-purpose indoor stadiums because different sport projects look better under different white light. The wood tone of the basketball court and the exposed skin of the players are more active under the warm white light (4000K). But in the 4000K light, hockey ice blocks are dull and dirty, but when illuminated with a 5600K light, hockey ice cubes look crisp and crisp.

So it is a challenge to use a single lighting system to achieve multicolored white light in stadiums that host multiple events. However, using the DALI LED high bay light is perfectly fine.

White light challenge for indoor areas

Most light sources and lamps emit a white light in the light of the target. In the past, two different lighting systems were needed to light the arena, creating the best conditions for basketball and hockey, while maintaining the level of lighting in the venue. Usually, this is done through a metal halide system of about 5000K and a high-pressure sodium lamp lighting system at a range of 2600k-2800k.

Two lighting systems should be used in coordination to get the desired light color on the court. For hockey games, only 5000K metal halide lamps can be used to illuminate the ice, producing the coolest color that the system can provide, but it still doesn't reach the optimal 5600K. In order to improve the lighting temperature of the basketball game, some metal halide lamps are used in combination with high pressure sodium system. A mixture of 5000K and 2700K lights will create a lighting temperature on the field and fall somewhere in the range. This imprecise and imperfect dual-system approach has always been the only option for the arena to achieve a white balance.

New LED lighting solutions.

LED materials, design and control advances enable leds to emit white light in different shades. The DALI LED high bay light combine two different color temperatures (3500K and 6500K) LED lights together, and then adjust the power of the different color diodes to produce accurate color temperature.

The multi-functional arena can now display hockey in a 5600K environment, display basketball in the 4000K environment, and maintain the best lighting level at the competition venue. All of these can be achieved through an energy-efficient white LED movement lighting system.
